After being in the publishing business for 20+ years, I am now offering to design WordPress websites. So many people want to share their knowledge/experiences/business on the internet and need someone like me to help them to do that. If you need a WordPress website, I am your guy!
WordPress is a Content Management application. It manages your content!
As with any project, it starts with planning! I will work with you to “storyboard” your idea for your website. we will make a list of everything you need/want your website to do for you. Do you need a logo? Will you be blogging? What social media do you want to utilize? We will work through all of these questions and more so that I can provide you with the best possible online experience possible!
My First Website!
The first website http://swapstartmybiz.com (created with Adobe DreamWeaver not WordPress) that I created was for my own personal dream.
Swapstartmybiz.com is a personal project/journey that I started in 2009.
I have a business idea but no money to start it. So I got creative to raise the money.
I had inherited over 30-years of National Geographic magazines from my Grandmother. As a child, she saved them for me knowing how much I enjoyed reading them each month when I was at her house (she lived right around the corner).
I remember how vivid exotic, and mesmerizing the photos were and how they transported me to another time and place, usually halfway around the world to places I would most likely never see. So I thought if they affected me that way, I was not alone.
I remembered an inspirational story of a man that traded one red paper clip into a home through a series of “Bigger and Better” trade ups. So began my journey with Swapstartmybiz! I scanned the cover of every issue that I had…over 300 of them and built my first website!
Starting Swapstartmybiz.com brought together and stretched all of my professional skills including creative writing for press releases, marketing my idea to raise money, self promotion (need to be credible), design (nothing was meant to be flashy), photography (done enough photoshoots to know the essentials), videography (shooting yourself and reading from a teleprompter…not easy), and public speaking (I am the only voice, so I have to speak up), I even taught myself DreamWeaver to build the website. Notably, the website itself is organic and not design intensive or for that matter, attractive. This was done purpose as I wanted the website to be a reflection of my goal and purpose rather than a design piece.
The idea was to trade-up each National Geographic for something more expensive. And then trade that item up!
My goal is to trade up 50 different items up a value of $10,000 in order to raise $500,000 to start my business.
Swapstartmybiz.com is a testament to my journey.
